When purchasing or ordering an aquarium, we must fully consider the safety of the aquarium, including the height, texture, specifications and shape of the aquarium, and the quality and thickness of the glass.
1. The height of the aquarium
The aquarium should not be too high, because the deeper the water, the greater the pressure on the aquarium wall, and the easier to cause the aquarium glass to burst. The depth of the general aquarium does not need to exceed 70CM.
2. The texture of the aquarium
Commercially available aquariums have two texture materials, one is acrylic and the other is glass.
Acrylic is plexiglass, also called polymethyl methacrylate. When making the acrylic aquarium, preheat the acrylic board to 130 ±5°C, and then put it in the environment of 25~35°C for 2~5 minutes, and then put it into the mold to pressurize. The temperature of the mold should be 60°C . The size of the pressure depends on the thickness of the acrylic plate and the specifications of the aquarium. The light transmittance of acrylic is 90%~92%, which is better than that of glass; the relative density is 1/2 of glass, which is 1.18;the mechanical strength and toughness are more than 10 times greater than glass, so acrylic aquarium is better than glass. The plate of the aquarium should be thin and light, so it is easy to move and transport. Since acrylic aquariums can be mass-produced, the price is also cheaper than glass aquariums, but hard and rough cloths cannot be used for wiping. If water and alkali are formed on the surface after using for a period of time, you can gently wipe it with a soft gauze and a pH-lowering agent to wipe off the alkali scale on the surface (wear latex gloves when wiping).
When choosing an acrylic aquarium, pay attention to whether there are scratches, scratches, nodules, shrinkage marks (especially at the corners), cracks, blemishes, mildew spots, alkali marks, water marks, and plates on the surface. There are no air bubbles and foreign impurities in the middle.
The glass aquarium has high transparency, is not easy to produce scratches, and has strong pressure resistance. The glass aquarium is made of silicone glue. The safety of the glued place depends on whether the thickness of the glue is uniform and whether there are bubbles in the glue.
3. The quality and thickness of the aquarium glass
Glass includes flat glass, float glass and glued glass. Flat glass is of poor quality and can only be used as a small aquarium. Large and medium-sized aquariums must use float glass or strengthened glass. Because the flat glass surface is not flat, it will seriously damage the appreciation effect of aquatic plants. Therefore, general aquariums and even fish tanks do not use flat glass. When choosing an aquarium, you can observe it from the side of the glass. If the section of the glass is blue or dark blue, it is flat glass, and the green one is float glass. In general, the larger the aquarium, the thicker the glass should be. Generally, the aquarium within 80CM uses 10~12MM thick glass; the 150~180CM aquarium uses 15-19MM thick glass; the 180~350CM aquarium uses 22MM thick glass to be safe. For the sake of insurance, a few pull straps should be added to the aquarium to increase the safety of the aquarium.
4. Aquarium rack
The aquarium shelf is the support of the aquarium. Its stability and firmness play an extremely important role in the safety of the aquarium. The aquarium frame should be made of solid wood or metal materials, and its modeling structure should conform to the mechanics principle. At the same time, its countertop must be flat, especially after it bears the pressure of a few hundred kilograms or even thousands of kilograms in the aquarium. In order to ensure the safety of the aquarium.
The shape and color of the aquarium rack should be coordinated with the surrounding furniture. The total height of the aquarium and the aquarium rack should be kept level with the human eye, so that it will make people feel happy.
