What are the common filtering forms of fish tanks?

Upper circulation filtration (up filtration)
This is the most common filtering method, and most finished cylinders are equipped with this filtering method. There is a filter tank at the top of the fish tank near the lamp tube. Filter cotton, activated carbon, glass ring, etc. can be placed in the filter tank. The submersible pump draws water into the filter tank, and then flows back into the aquarium through the water outlet at the bottom of the filter tank. The biggest advantage of the upper filter is that it is easy to clean. When the filter material is dirty, it can be easily taken out for cleaning. The biggest disadvantage is that due to space constraints, the volume of the filter tank is small, and the filter material is small, so the filtering function is weak. The upper filter system is not suitable for planting aquatic plants. The water flow will reduce the residence time of carbon dioxide in the aquarium. At the same time, the water flow of the filter will also bring a large amount of oxygen in the air into the water. The increase of oxygen capacity in the water will cause a large amount of algae like oxygen. Growth affects the ornamental effect of the aquarium.
Built-in filtration (submerged filter)
The built-in filter is directly connected by the submersible pump and the filter tank, and is submerged in water. In the filter tank, a roll of filter cotton is wrapped around a cylinder with a leaky net, and there are many biological balls inside the cylinder to facilitate nitrifying bacteria Attachment. The biggest advantage of the built-in filter is that the sound is light, the direction of the water flow can be adjusted according to needs, and it is suitable for aquariums mainly based on aquatic plants. The water outlet of the built-in filter has the next air inlet connected to carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide can enter the water through this port. After the impact of the water flow, carbon dioxide can be evenly distributed to every corner of the aquarium and absorbed by the water grass. However, the effect of mechanical filtering of impurities is not as good as that of the upper filter, because the filtered dirt adheres to the filter cotton and is immersed in water, which easily causes secondary pollution. The built-in filter is also very convenient to clean, as long as the internal filter cotton is removed and cleaned. Because the surface of the built-in filter and the water contact surface are relatively large, its water absorption power per unit area is small, which is most suitable for small fish tanks and feeding It is used during the breeding of small fish and fish, or as an auxiliary pump for fish tanks.
Sand filtering
A thick layer of fine sand is used to bury the connected water pipe with small cracks in the pipe body at the bottom of the tank. The water flow is filtered by the fine sand into the water pipe under the suction of the pump and then pumped to the upper layer of the aquarium On the water surface, this type of filtration is often used in grass tanks. The advantage is that it is relatively beautiful at the beginning, but the backlog of fish bait and fish cannot be removed in time in the sand. The sand is easy to turn black after a long time. The backlog of organic matter and ammonia nitrogen exceed the processing capacity of the nitrification system, causing the fish tank water quality to deteriorate and the fish Constant illness and troublesome cleaning of the entire cylinder.
Bottom tank filtration Under the table where the fish tank is placed, there is a small tank holding the filter material. The small tank is divided into several compartments to place different filter materials. The water overflows from the top of the tank and is pumped back into the tank after filtering material. Due to the large space for the filter material, the nitrification filtration function is strong, which is more suitable for feeding medium and large fish, and it is convenient to clean and replace the filter material. However, the power requirement of the water pump is high, the power consumption is large and the noise is large.
Back filter / side filter
A part of the glass is separated from the back or side of the fish tank for filtration, and the interior is divided into several small compartments for placing the filter material (or filtration equipment) and the circulation pump, and an overflow port is provided on one side,When the water pump draws water from the filtering to the fish tank, the water overflowed from the fish tank flows into the first compartment of the filtering part through the overflow port, and flows through the various filter materials "from top to bottom" or "from bottom to top" under the guidance of the partition. The grid is sent to the fish tank again through the water pump, and so on. The disadvantage is that it occupies the space of the fish tank and affects the visual effect. It is more troublesome to clean and replace the filter material.
External filter bucket
All filter materials and water pumps are hidden in a filter bucket. There are 4 to 5 filter boxes in the filter bucket. Each filter box has different filter materials. Generally, filter cotton is placed on the first layer to filter the water quality. Filter the impurities in the water cleanly. The other layers can be placed with ceramic rings, activated carbon, etc., through a large number of nitrifying bacteria in the box to biochemically filter the ammonia nitrogen and nitrite in the water, forming a complete physical and biochemical filtration system. It is often used to reinforce the nitrification filter system of the finished tank, especially when the higher-density fish farming or fish have high water quality requirements.
